Error coins carry subtle imperfections from the striking process that go undetected and subsequently are released by the mint. Due to the Mint’s stringent quality controls, most coins that experience manufacturing or production errors are identified and melted before they are issued. This makes it all the more exciting when error coins are discovered by the public.

2000-P Sacagawea Dollar Errors
- Speared Eagle – In the initial production, the mint used a prototype reverse to produce these coins, which resulted in two spike-like die aberrations through the eagle’s breast.
- Wounded Eagle Die – Three raised die flaws cut across the lower portion of the eagle's torso and wing
- Chocolate Finish – improper heating during the annealing stage turned the planchet’s manganese brass surface from a golden hue to a deep copper-brown color

2007-D Sacagawea Dollar Edge Lettering Error
Only known dollar struck with edge lettering intended for the Presidential Dollars. Certified by PCGS, it sold at auction for $17,161.10 in 2012!
