Issued 1887-1893, these 92.5% sterling silver coins honor Queen Victoria on the 50th anniversary of her reign. Shown on each obverse is Victoria wearing a miniature imperial crown designed for her to wear publicly when she emerged after 9 years of mourning the death of her beloved husband, Prince Albert. In the two-coin set, the reverse of the silver Florin features the crowned shields of England, Scotland and Ireland. The reverse of the silver 3 Pence shows the miniature crown, the number 3 which divides the date, and an oak wreath.
