From the 1800s until the mid-1930s, gold 20 Francs were the backbone of European commerce. However, when the U.S. abandoned gold coinage in 1933, the rest of the world quickly followed suit, and mintage ceased. But now you can own this long-out-of-issue Belgian gold coin, guaranteed to be between 122-137 years old. The obverse features the bust of King Leopold II, whose reign saw great colonial and industrial expansion. The reverse bears the Belgian coat of arms with the French legend L`UNION FAIT LA FORCE (unity makes strength). Own this obsolete 90% gold piece from a bygone era!
