Here's a return of a collector favorite – huge copper 5 Kopeks – available for the first time in several years! Weighing nearly as much as two U.S. silver dollars, these big Russian coins circulated from 1762-1796 during the reign of Catherine the Great and are hard to find today.

Though born and raised in Germany, the empress "adopted" Russia after her betrothal to Peter III. This illustrious ruler, known for her love affairs, expanded Russia's territory and set it on the road to modernization.

Struck over 215 years ago, these magnificent coins are from the Ekaterina Mint (em mint mark) located in Ekaterinburg, the same city Czar Nicholas II spent his final days. Catherine's era is considered the height of Russian coinage, and you'll understand why when you hold one of these thick 42 mm coins. Nicely preserved with all major design elements visible, Catherine's elegant crowned monogram is on one side, and the double-headed eagle, emblem of the house of Romanoff is on the other. Impressive and offered in your choice of two very attractive grades, this sought-after Russian coin will make a spectacular addition to your collection!
