1762-1796 Russia 5 Kopek, Catherine the Great

These huge, thick copper 5 Kopek pieces weigh nearly as much as two United States silver dollars! They circulated in imperial Russia during the reign of Catherine the Great (1763-94), German born empress who claimed her husband's throne and is known for her love affairs as well as for expanding and strengthening Russia.

The obverse bears a crowned double-headed eagle, emblem of the ruling house of Romanoff. On the reverse is Catherine's crowned monogram. These pieces are not easy to find - order today!
