At 6 a.m. on December 7, 1941, over 200 Japanese planes winged their way to Pearl Harbor. Following the attack, the U.S. released a special series of paper money for exclusive use in the Pacific. With a brown seal and hawaii overprinted on the face and back, the notes could be declared worthless if they fell into enemy hands.
