A.D. 98-117 Trajan Silver Denarius, Trajan's Column

Trajan was a wise and ethical emperor who expanded the Roman Empire to its greatest extent. He instituted an ambitious period of construction of new buildings, roads, bridges and baths. Trajan's Forum and Trajan's Column are best known. The Column commemorates victory against the Dacians, and still stands in Rome. The story of the campaign is told in bas-relief carving from bottom to top.
