Theodosius II was the grandson of Theodosius the Great. Before he turned a year old, he was made Augustus. By age seven, he was emperor. But while Theodosius II was young, his sister and ministers dominated his rule. Later, because of successful campaigns against the Persians, he established a peace that lasted 24 years. After reigning for 49 years, Theodosius II died of a fall from a horse.
