A.D. 383-408 Aelia Eudoxia Bronze Reduced Follis

The wife of Emperor Arcadius, Aelia Eudoxia was a beautiful woman with a powerful personality. She virtually ran the Eastern Roman Empire, as Arcadius was dim-witted. A devout Christian, she went to great lengths to remove all reminders of paganism from the Empire. Bronze coins of Aelia Eudoxia are extensive, and show the hand of God placing a crown on her head.
