Customer Reviews

The Spaniard Magnus Maximus served in North Africa and later in Britain, where his troops proclaimed him ruler. When the rightful emperor Gratian attempted to crush the usurper, he was killed. Maximus won grudging recognition from Theodosius, emperor of the East, and for a short time the Empire was ruled by 3 emperors. In A.D. 387, Maximus invaded Italy, and a year later, after a series of losses, the troops beheaded him. This coin is scarce.
