Trebonianus Gallus was born in Italy about A.D. 206. In A.D. 250 he began battling invading Goths on the Danube. Emperor Decius went to help Gallus, but Decius, his son, and most of their army were killed. Gallus' troops proclaimed him emperor, and he made a treaty with the Goths that allowed them to keep their loot, and even their Roman prisoners! Gallus' son, Volusian, was proclaimed co-emperor. Two years later they were murdered by their troops.
