Customer Reviews
This ancient Roman coin depicts Emperor Gordian III, grandson of Gordian I and nephew of Gordian II. Gordian III was named Caesar by joint Emperors Balbinus and Pupienus Maximus. After their massacre by the Praetorian Guard, he became sole emperor between the ages of 13-16. The Praetorian Guard had grown so powerful that no one could be emperor without its goodwill. Gordian III was murdered by traitors within his own troops.
