This Proof commemorative eagle was struck to celebrate the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games and was the first U.S. gold piece issued in more than 50 years. It is also the first coin ever to bear the W mint mark of West Point. The obverse features 2 runners carrying the Olympic torch.
