Stunning Uncirculated two-note set honors the Age of Discovery and Portugal’s key role in maritime exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries. Featured is a caravel sailing ship designed by the Portuguese. Outfitted with triangular and square sails, these ships could sail against the wind and were part of King Henry the Navigator’s ambitious plans to explore the coasts of Africa, India, Asia Major and eventually South America.
