Celebrate the start of this important half dollar series struck in 90% silver 75 years ago by the Philadelphia “P” and Denver “D” Mints to honor Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. A signer of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution, Franklin is the first non-president to appear on a U.S. coin. The obverse depicts the American diplomat who also signed the Treaty of Paris in 1783, bringing a victorious end to the War for Independence.
