1938-1945 New Guinea Silver One Shilling

During the reign of King George VI, the Australian territory of New Guinea was under British rule. It was there, as World War II raged in the Pacific, that this One Shilling coin was struck. Issued in 92.5% silver, its obverse displays a crown and crossed scepters surrounding a center hole. This coin was struck for just two years under George VI – 1938 and 1945.
