Don't miss this opportunity to own a complete 2-note set of scarce experimental bank notes over 70 years old! During the military mobilization of WWII, the U.S. government was concerned about the availability of currency paper. So new paper designed to be more durable was tested in hopes of extending the life of bank notes. On a single day in 1944, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing issued less than 1.2 million Series 1935A $1 Silver Certificates on the special test paper – overprinted with a prominent red "S." An equal number of Silver Certificates on regular paper were issued on the same day with a red "R" overprint. The BEP planned to compare the condition of the notes as they were redeemed.

The test proved inconclusive, so no change in paper was made. But collectors who noticed the unusual overprints and pulled those bills from circulation became the owners of sought-after experimental wartime notes! You can now get a prized set of these scarce 1935A "R" & "S" $1 Silver Certificates in a choice of two desirable grades. Your set will come in a protective currency wallet and you'll SAVE off individual prices.
