1905-S Liberty Head $5 Gold Piece

Struck at the San Francisco Mint and bearing that facility`s distinctive "S" mint mark, the 1905-S Liberty Head $5 gold pieces were circulated throughout the western part of the country. Gold and silver coins saw their greatest use and popularity in the West - where most of the precious metal in the coinage was mined, and where people favored the intrinsic value of gold and silver over paper money or other currency.
