1899 Morgan Silver Dollar

The 1899 silver dollar is an interesting and popular Morgan dollar issue. Mintage was small – only 330,000 were coined – and the 1899 was tough to find in any condition in the early 20th century for that reason. However, numerous bags of Uncirculated 1899 dollars came to light in the 1950s and 1960s – found in Las Vegas casinos as well as in the rediscovered Treasury hoard. As a result, Circulated coins are nearly as scarce as Uncirculated pieces!
