1898-S Liberty Head $20 Gold

The 1898-S Liberty Head $20 gold pieces were struck over a century ago at "the Granite Lady" - nickname of the stalwart second San Francisco Mint which later would be one of very few buildings to survive the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. These historic coins bear James B. Longacre's classic depiction of Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed liberty, with an impressive eagle and shield on the reverse.
