Bearing the distinctive "O" mint mark of the New Orleans Mint, the 1897-O Morgan silver dollar was struck in a quantity of just over 4 million. This is an issue that can be found quite easily in lower "well-circulated" condition. But it becomes very scarce and precious in mint Uncirculated grades! The historic 1897-O silver dollar no doubt bought supplies for many of the gold prospectors seeking their fortune in the Klondike district near Alaska.
