After more than 50 years of the Liberty Seated design, U.S. half dollars were re-designed for 1892. Bearing the profile of Liberty, these 90% silver coins are known as Barber half dollars – named after their designer, Charles E. Barber, whose initial b is found at the truncation of Liberty's neck.
