The 1882 Liberty Head $10 gold pieces were struck at the main U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, birthplace of America's coinage. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the $10 Liberty Heads depict Liberty wearing a coronet on the obverse, and an eagle with a shield on the reverse. This classic design was used on U.S. $10 gold pieces from 1838 to 1907, with the only significant change being the addition of the motto in god we trust to the reverse in 1866 following the Civil War.
