1877 Liberty Seated Half Dollar

Struck in 90% silver at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1877 Liberty Seated half dollar features a classic design that endured on America`s 50¢ coins for more than 50 years (1839-1891). Though the western part of the country was still quite "wild" in 1877, the future was being forged in the eastern regions. The first Bell telephone was sold in 1877, Thomas Edison demonstrated a hand-cranked phonograph, and the first American bicycle factory opened in Hartford, Connecticut.
