1854-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar, Arrows, No Rays

The 1854-O half dollar is a highlight of the Liberty Seated series, featuring a very short-lived design element. From 1853 to 1855, the weight of half dollars was marginally reduced, because the melt value of the silver was greater than the face value of the coins. To denote the reduced-weight coins, arrows were placed on each side of the date during 1853-1855.
