Customer Reviews
The 1836 Capped Bust half dollar was struck over 170 years ago at the Philadelphia Mint. This was the final year that lettering was inscribed on the edge of the Capped Bust half, reading fifty cents or half a dollar. In late 1836, the smooth inscribed edge of half dollars was replaced with a reeded edge (as seen on most modern U.S. coins). Minted in 89.24% fine silver, this 1836 Lettered Edge half dollar will be a precious addition to your collection!
