This sidewheel steamboat was first built in 1823, and catered to the Vicksburg, MS area. Though the original boat was lost to fire in 1835, later versions of the Natchez would travel southern waters – including one that still operates today! These steamboats were named for the city that proved itself important to the growth of the old southwest.


Issued more than 170 years ago, this Circulated $5 note is a genuine relic from the pre-Civil War South.
