Customer Reviews
Designed by John Reich, the Classic Head half cent of 1809-1836 depicts Liberty surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies. However, a substantial number of 1828 half cents bear only 12 stars - 7 to the left and 5 to the right. The dies used to strike these coins were simply mis-prepared, and 1828 half cents with 12 stars are a prized and prominent variety. Now over 175 years old, these 12-star coins are highlights of any collection.
