This bronze Antoninianus was struck during the third century A.D. It bears the portrait of Allectus, who originally served as Carausius` chief minister, until he had him murdered and became his successor. Allectus lacked the great warrior ability of his predecessor, and was known more for his cruelty than military y expertise. He died in a battle against Constantius from Gaul.
