Customer Reviews
This new 2011 silver dollar Proof from the U.S. Mint was struck for the 150th anniversary of the highest Armed Forces award for valor in action against an enemy force. First bestowed in 1861 during the Civil War, the Medal of Honor is awarded to those who go above and beyond the call of duty, risking their lives for others. The obverse bears the 3 current Army, Navy and Air Force Medals of Honor – sharing the common feature of a ribbon with field of stars. The reverse depicts an infantryman carrying a wounded soldier to safety. Mintage of the 90% silver Proof is limited to 500,000 – give them a tribute to America's bravest wartime heroes!
