This star note features the first $2 Federal Reserve Note design &ndash; a portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the face and the painting <i>Declaration of Independence</i> on back. When a note is damaged during manufacture, it is replaced by one with a star beside the serial number. These are much scarcer than regular issues. With green seal and serial numbers, and St. Louis Federal Reserve District seal.
