At 6 A.M. on December 7, 1941, over 200 Japanese planes winged their way to Pearl Harbor. Following the attack, the U.S. released a special series of paper money for exclusive use in the Pacific. With brown seals and HAWAII overprinted on the face and back, these $5 notes would be worthless should they fall into enemy hands.
