Struck in 90% silver, the Mercury dimes of 1916-1945 are one of the most popular series of U.S. coins among collectors. Although misnamed (the coin depicts Liberty in a winged cap, not the male god Mercury), this design was very well-received by the public for its artistry and beauty. The reverse features a bundle of fasces, symbolic of strength and readiness during the World War I era, intertwined with an olive branch signifying the nation`s desire for peace.
