1922 Grant Memorial Silver Half Dollar

Struck in 1922 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Ulysses S. Grant's birthday. A star, which has no particular significance, appeared on the obverse of the first issue and was later removed, creating this second variety. Designed by Laura Gardin Fraser, the obverse features a portrait of Grant and the reverse depicts the house in Point Pleasant, Ohio, where Grant was born on April 27, 1822. Mintage: 67,405.
