Customer Reviews

This bronze Indian Head cent contains a "closed" 3 in the date, which Chief Coiner Archibald L. Snowden complained could be misread as an 8. As a result, it changed to an "open" 3 early in the year. Struck using the old 1864 reverse hub, even though a new hub was made three years before. Reverse features oak wreath and shield. Obverse depicts Liberty in a Native American headdress. In 1873, Congress adopted the gold standard – an act critics called the "Crime of '73". That same year, the U.S. Mint became a bureau of the Treasury Department. Act now to own this prized Indian Head cent!
