The obverse depicts the famed Shoshone guide who helped explorers Lewis &amp; Clark find a Northwest Passage and the Pacific Ocean. The trailblazing coin designed by sculptor Glenna Goodacre was the first to honor an actual Native American and only the second coin to feature a historical woman on the obverse. It was also the first to depict a child. The reverse features a soaring eagle.
