1871 Liberty Seated Half Dollar

Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the 90% silver Liberty Seated half dollar was struck from 1839 to 1891. The obverse of the coin depicts Liberty seated on a rock, her left hand holding a liberty cap on a pole, and her right hand resting upon a shield inscribed with the word liberty.
