1864-1869 10¢ Fractional Currency Note

Due to widespread hoarding of coins during the Civil War era, Congress authorized the printing of fractional currency notes (with values less than a dollar) from 1862-1876. This historic 10¢ note is from the 1864-1869 Third Issue of fractional currency. The green face of the note depicts George Washington, while the green back carries the statement of obligation to accept as U.S. currency.
