A New Series
These 2026 U.S. quarters are part of the Mint’s American Semiquincentennial series. It follows the popular U.S. Women quarters series, which ran from 2022-2025 and honored the achievements of American women throughout history. Like U.S. Women quarters, National Park quarters and 50 State quarters, this series includes multiple releases throughout the year. However, while those series spanned several years, Semiquincentennial quarters will only be issued in 2026.
Five Historic Quarter Designs
For the first time since 1930, the U.S. Mint is releasing quarters for circulation which don't feature George Washington on the obverse. In total there will be five new quarters in 2026.
- Mayflower Compact: The first 2026 quarter released, it honors one of America's earliest agreements of self-governance. The obverse shows two pilgrims looking out at the New World, while the reverse depicts the Mayflower sailing west through rough seas.
- Revolutionary War: The only 2026 quarter to feature first U.S. President George Washington, the obverse bears his portrait from the 2007 Washington Presidential dollar. The reverse features a Continental Army soldier at Valley Forge.
- Declaration of Independence: The obverse features the Declaration's primary author and third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, and bears the portrait from his official Presidential Medal. The reverse depicts the Liberty Bell.
- U.S. Constitution: Honoring the “Father of the Constitution” and fourth U.S. President James Madison, the obverse bears his portrait from the 2007 Madison Presidential dollar. The reverse features Independence Hall and the inscription we the people.
- Gettysburg Address: The final 2026 quarter design honors 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln and his iconic speech at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The obverse bears his portrait from the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial silver dollar. The reverse features the inscription a new nation conceived in liberty above two clasped hands symbolizing Lincoln's effort to hold the nation together.
