Here are the cents that set off a collecting spree. When a size difference in the date on Lincoln Head cent was spotted, it made Coin World's front page and the Small & Large Date cents became overnight sensations! Now give both varieties, still in original U.S. Mint packaging, with this pair of 1960 Proof Sets.
The scarce Small Date cent was struck only in January 1960 as the Philadelphia Mint began issuing new coins. When workmen discovered the numeral 0 was too small, and prone to breakage, they retired the master die. This created the scarcer Small Date variety. Later that year, a replacement die was made and the Large Date type was created. Every collector needs these important varieties – but supplies are limited! Order now and SAVE off single prices.
