Recall the great coinage renaissance of the early 20th century with this nice quality 1926 Indian Head $2.50 gold quarter eagle! From the heyday of the Roaring Twenties, this coin bears an unusual incuse design, with all lettering and images recessed below the at surfaces of the coin. It’s a distinctive feature found only on the 1908-1929 Indian Head $2.50 and $5.00 gold pieces designed by sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt.

These precious 90% gold issues were minted in modest quantities compared to coins of other compositions. Just 446,000 were issued from the Philadelphia Mint in 1926, and many were lost to the melting pot after President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Gold Recall Order during the Great Depression. Today, PCGS estimates that only 65,000 survive in all grades! Don’t miss this opportunity to own a nicely detailed Choice About Uncirculated piece, with only slight wear visible and much of the original mint luster still present. These coins have been graded AU-58 by our experts, hand selected for quality and eye appeal, and certified by PCGS. Act now to add one to your collection!
