Thanks to a special purchase, you can now add a short-lived Variety 1 Indian Head $10 gold piece from the first year of the series to your collection! Designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, $10 gold Indian Heads of 1907-1933 are from the nest era of U.S. coin design. The obverse depicts Liberty with a detailed Native American headdress and the reverse features a majestic bald eagle.

When introduced in 1907, the Saint-Gaudens designs for $10 and $20 gold pieces omitted the motto in god we trust (Variety 1). Following complaints, Congress legislated the motto onto the coins and it appeared in early 1908 (Variety 2). A small number of Variety 1 $10 Indian Heads also featured dots or periods before and after each inscription on the reverse. The periods were soon removed and those with periods are extremely rare.

Carefully preserved for over a century, these scarce 1907 Variety 1 $10 gold Indian Heads have been graded Choice Uncirculated MS-63 by our experts and certified by PCGS with a special label bearing a portrait of Augustus Saint-Gaudens and a reproduction of his signature. Our supply of these first-year No Motto, No Periods $10 Indian Head gold pieces is limited – reserve yours today!
