During the Civil War, coins were hoarded and in short supply. To help make change, the bronze 2¢ piece was introduced during the war year of 1864. Reflecting the religious fervor of the Civil War era, it was the first coin to bear the motto in god we trust. Featuring a Union shield on the obverse, 2¢ pieces were struck for circulation only until 1872.
A precious memento from the historic Civil War era, the short-lived U.S. 2¢ piece is in great demand among collectors and history buffs. Get yours now in our colorful, informative 5 ̋ x 3 ̋ Showpak®!
