From 1939-1945, the Nazi war machine needed more bronze and nickel for munitions, so the Third Reich turned to zinc and aluminum to issue “emergency money” in coins made of those lighter weight metals. Minted over 75 years ago in 1, 5, 10 and 50 Reichspfennings, the first three denominations were struck in zinc while the 50 Reichspfenning was issued in aluminum. Each observe bears the image of an eagle above a swastika. Each reverse features the denomination and oak leaves symbolizing endurance and honor. Long out of issue, this circulated 4-coin set will add intrigue to your collection – order now!
