1829 Capped Bust Silver Half Dollar

Capped Bust half dollars are precious keepsakes from the early years of the nation. The 1829 half dollar was struck in 89.24% silver at the Philadelphia Mint, birthplace of America`s coinage and the only U.S. Mint facility until 1838. From its introduction in 1807 through late 1836, Capped Bust halves featured seldom-seen edge lettering, inscribed fifty cents or half a dollar. The historic 1829 half dollar was struck during the first year of the presidency of Andrew Jackson.
