Description
Issued in celebration of the 250th anniversary of Albany, NY's city charter. In 1686, the city's original charter was granted by New York Governor Thomas Dongan. The reverse depicts Dongan bidding farewell to Peter Schuyler (first mayor of Albany) and Robert Livingston (who advocated for the charter along with Schuyler). A common animal in the area – the beaver – is shown on the obverse with a maple branch in its teeth. We have just two examples of this Philadelphia Mint issue available, so secure yours today.
