The establishment of the Federal Reserve System in 1913 led to new types of currency known as Federal Reserve Bank Notes (issuedfrom 1915-1934) and Federal Reserve Notes which continue today. Federal Reserve Bank Notes, also inscribed as national currency were issued by individual Federal Reserve Banks and display the name and location of the bank – providing both local and national interest. These short-lived notes bear two signatures from the issuing bank and two from the U.S. Treasury.
