The historic 1893 Liberty Head nickel was produced during the year of the World`s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It was intended to take place in 1892, for the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus`s voyage to the New World, but there were construction delays. Over 21 million people visited the world exposition in 1893, and sampled its remarkable variety of rides and amusements. Most of these could be experienced for a single Liberty Head nickel!
