Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the premier sculptor of his era, $20 gold coins (Double Eagles) of 1907-1932 are widely considered the most beautiful of America’s coins! But the most spectacular and prized of all “$20 Saints” are the High-Relief issues struck briefly in 1907. Featuring exceptional depth of detail and superb eye appeal, these coinage masterpieces were the ultimate execution of Saint-Gaudens’ magnificent design.
Because the original High-Relief coins required up to five strikes from the coin press to impress all design details, production was extremely time-consuming – and a mere 11,250 coins were minted. The relief was then lowered and the Roman numeral date (MCMVII) was replaced with Arabic numerals (1907). Of all the first-year Saint-Gaudens double eagles, only about 3.1% featured the stunning original high-relief design!
We have just one high-relief 1907 Double Eagle available, to become the centerpiece of one collection. And for a limited time, this spectacular gold coin is available with special savings. This lustrous and detailed U.S. $20 gold piece has been graded by our experts and is certified and encapsulated by PCGS.
