2004 marked the centennial of the death of designer Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, builder of America’s Statue of Liberty. To honor the event, the Monnaie de Paris restruck bronze tributes to the original medals produced in 1986 for the hundredth anniversary of the statue’s dedication. The obverse depicts the statue’s front with portraits of the designer Bartholdi and engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. The reverse shows a back view of the Statue of Liberty as she views famous landmarks of America and Paris. This special tribute measures a colossal 68 mm and is perfect for Liberty enthusiasts. Comes with a display stand.
